Vintage Photo

The picture was done in 1905 by American artist Carle J Blenner.
The frame and background were created by me.
This picture reminds me of a Southern Belle who could have just stepped out of
"Gone With The Wind".

Independence Day

The Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4, 1776, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania,
to announce that the thirteen colonies at war with Great Britain were independent states.
The statesmen who wrote this document fought long and hard to defend the rights
they so strongly believed and that we now take for granted.
It's time to celebrate our freedom and defend it.
As you celebrate this July 4th weekend think about the patriots who lost their lives
to provide life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for all future Americans.
I had a paternal ancestor who fought in the Revolutionary War and I
thank him and all the other patriots for what they gave us.
This is a large desktop, if you need a regular size you can find that Here
Have a safe and Happy 4th.
God Bless America!

Vintage Summer

We have just updated our card site to feature vintage style cards exclusively.
With that in mind I wanted to create a summer desktop with a vintage look.
I used a painting by the Swedish painter Carl Larsson (1853-1919)
titled "Beneath The Chestnut Tree".
I love the colors in this picture and I hope you will enjoy his composition.
This is a large size desktop that you can save to your computer by clicking on the image.

Memorial Day

The USA celebrates Memorial Day this weekend.
Originally called Decoration Day this first became a national holiday on May 30, 1868,
to honor those who died in our Civil War.
The name was changed to Memorial Day in 1967 and is now celebrated on the last Monday
in May and includes all National wars.
This weekend starts the Summer season in the US and is celebrated tradionally
with Memorial Services and picnics.
As you go through the weekend take time to remember the fallen heros
of yesterday and today.

Have a great weekend!

Hummingbirds

The Hummingbirds are returning to our area;
the males are back and I expect the females to arrive any day.
That's when the feeders will get busy.
I'm using a painting by Martin Johnson Heade (1819-1904) which is public domain.
I used a tutorial by our Chris which you can find here
Thank you, Chris, for such a great tutorial!
This is a large size desktop and can be saved by clicking on the image.
If you need a regular size you'll find that here
I hope you enjoy the hummingbirds as they arrive in your neighborhood.
