Colonial Traveler

I've been giving a lot of thought lately to our forefathers who molded our country to

provide all United States citizens with Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.

Very noble ideas that have always worked; maybe not perfectly but they worked.

I had this public domain painting Goodby by George Kilburn Goodwin (1839-1924)

which seemed perfect for my thoughts.

Dancing Leaves

I've chosen a picture that adorned the cover of the October, 1921, issue of Woman's World.

I was attracted to the picture because of the colors and the spritely dancers.

Fall at the Beach

I was at the beach yesterday and decided I wanted to do a desktop with one of my fall pictures.

This picture was taken on Hatteras Island following a fall storm; the weather was just

breaking and showing some North Carolina blue sky.

Once again I've used the beautiful work of Swedish painter, Carl Larsson (1853-1919).

He named this painting October. His work is now in the public domain and popular worldwide.

Fall Flower Arrangement

I decided to do a desktop with a fall flavor to it.

The vase of flowers is a tube from a painting by Josef Nigg (1782-1863) simply titled

"Flowers in a Blue Vase"; the painting is now in the public domain.

Cormorant

Let me introduce you to the Double Crested Cormorant, a "duck wannabe".
Not especially pretty but very interesting.
They are water birds but get water logged and have to perch somewhere
to dry out their wings, thus the pose you see above.

In Loving Memory

This desktop is in loving memory of my mother
who went to her heavenly home on Friday, June 20, 2008.
She was my scotch parent with roots in Sutherland and Ayrshire.
She will be missed but the heritage she passed on will live in our hearts.
