Gathering Wood for Winter

This is a painting by George Henry Durrie (1820-1863), an American landscape
painter whose specialty was winter scenes.
I love the colors in this particular painting, the russet shades of Autumn linger
as a contrast to the snow on the ground.
The sky is the same color as the sky I've seen out my kitchen window on
fall and winter mornings.
